Fundraising Update

From the past three casinos of the League, we have requested $25,000 be put aside for the park redevelopment, and we have $5,000 from the Area Council for this project, so $80,000 of seed money. Further funding will come from applying for City of Edmonton Funding from the NPDP Neighbourhood Park Development Program for $250,000 and to the province for CFEP Community Facility Enhancement Program for $125,000. The total Project Cost has been budgeted at $775,000.

Additional funding will be obtained through fundraising – if you have ideas/suggestions for this, please pass them on to us and apply for further grants available for such projects. Some employers, ATCO and EPCOR, encourage community involvement from their employees to offer donations to community development. Again, if you are aware of such opportunities, please pass them on to us.

Dolar Drugs, in Wellington, and April Glass & Mirror Ltd. have provided significant donations to our Park redevelopment. Donations to the Park Redevelopment Project are eligible for charitable donation tax receipts. The minimum is $20. Please utilize the Donate Now link to take you to the Playground Donation Form. Cheques need to be payable to the City of Edmonton, noting a contribution to the Kensington Park Project.

We have been introduced to FlipGive. Funders like to see that community members are helping to work towards a funding goal. It emphasizes the community supports the redevelopment project. Please visit “How can you help” for the steps to be followed.

With the power of matching grants, these funds are going to multiply.
